MIKE BARMORE, CPA, CIC
President and CEO

Mike graduated cum laude from Texas Christian University in 1973 with B.B.A. degree in Accounting. After a year as controller for a firm in the construction industry, Mike joined Barmore Insurance Agency, Inc. in 1974 as a commercial insurance salesperson. He became licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 1975, and soon thereafter assumed additional duties as chief financial officer of the firm. Mike continued his professional development in the insurance industry by attaining the designation of Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) in 1985, and in 1988 he became President and CEO of the firm. He continues to hold those positions within the agency today. Mike has served or is currently serving in leadership roles within the insurance industry which include national, regional or state Agent’s Council positions with CNA Insurance, Travelers Property Casualty and USF&G Companies, and a five-year term on the Board of Directors of the Independent Insurance Agents of Houston.

BILL BARMORE, CIC
Vice-President

Bill graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1977 with B.B.A. degree in Insurance, and joined Barmore Insurance Agency, Inc. in 1977 as a commercial insurance underwriter. Bill continued his professional development in the insurance industry by attaining the designation of Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) in 1980, and he is a Licensed Risk Manager in the State of Texas. Bill also holds Managing General Agent and Surplus Lines Agent licenses. Bill serves as Vice-President of the agency today, and assists businesses and institutions with risk management and insurance solutions. Bill has served, or is currently serving, in leadership roles in various church, school and civic organizations.

Sylvia graduated from Texas Southmost College/Pan American in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.  She began her insurance career with the Hartford Insurance Company as a group insurance sales associate in 1976.  Sylvia has worked over 25 years in the employee benefits insurance industry as an account representative and service manager for both insurance companies and brokers.   Sylvia joined the Barmore team in 2002 and her current duties include the marketing, placement, enrollment and day-to-day client service of employee benefits accounts.
